Colorado Boulevard Resurfacing Project

Project Information
Crews began a resurfacing project on Colorado Boulevard (CO Highway 2) between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and US 6 this last week, starting with curb ramp upgrades at multiple intersections. The curb ramp upgrades are anticipated to continue for the next several weeks during daytime hours at nine different locations. After this, work will transition to nighttime hours for milling and paving operations. Milling and paving is anticipated to take place from late July until the end of the project in October 2023. 
 
For the Fourth of July holiday, no travel impacts will occur beginning at noon on Friday, June 30. Work will resume on Wednesday, July 5. When work resumes, travelers can expect closures in both north and southbound lanes during daytime hours within the project work zone. 
 
Traffic Impacts
  • No travel impacts will occur during the Fourth of July holiday beginning at noon on Friday, June 30. Work will resume on Wednesday morning, July 5. 
  • After the holiday, travelers can expect single lane closures on southbound Colorado Boulevard between 41st and 36th Avenue, alternating northbound mobile lane closures from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to I-70, and a northbound right lane closure at the 40th Avenue intersection. These impacts will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Friday. 
  • Traffic impacts are expected to be minimal, with anticipated delays of up to ten minutes. 
  • Please exercise extreme caution while driving through the project zone. Slow down, watch for workers and equipment, be aware of trucks entering the highway and leave plenty of room between vehicles.  
 
Project Schedule
  • The project began in late-June and will continue until October 2023. 
  • From June into July, crews will be upgrading curb ramps during daytime hours, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. 
  • Work will transition to nighttime hours in late July through the end of the project for milling and paving operations. General nighttime hours will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday morning. 
  • All schedules are subject to change based on weather and resources.
